Biography
Peter Kumik
Peter Kumik is an experienced entrepreneur and technologist, his core skill is developing new technology and taking it to international markets.
Peter Kumik’s career began as an engineer working for CASE Communications where he worked both in the UK and USA taking on support, market introduction and development roles for various new networking and internet related products.
From CASE, Peter moved to SCO, a Californian software company that owned the UNIX technology. There, he initially worked as a product marketing manager but over time expanded his responsibilities to include all product marketing and market development activities in Europe. During his time at SCO, European revenues grew to almost $100M representing over 50% of worldwide software revenue. Peter worked on all aspects (PR, Direct Marketing, Pricing, Stock & Contractural Management) of various major new version releases as well as the introduction of a number of new networking and Internet product lines.
In 1996 Peter left SCO and founded WildWood Technology Ltd, an early web development venture. Profitable from its inception, WildWood serviced customers that included Sybase, Seibel, Heidelberg Graphics, Plaut and many smaller companies.
After the successful trade sale of WildWood, Peter worked with Dr Martin Lambert as co-founder of SealedMedia Ltd. Peter and Martin grew SealedMedia through a number of rounds of venture financing to become a company with 70 staff across the USA and Europe. SealedMedia sold its patented Internet copy protection technology to publishing companies such as Pearson, subsidiaries of Reed Elsevier, corporates such as 3i and government organisations such as the Department of Defence. SealedMedia is now part of Oracle Corporation Inc.
Peter has also consulted for and helped establish a number of other new ventures providing both commercial and technical expertise as needed.
Peter Kumik has maintained his technical currency throughout his career. His development experience combined with his knowledge of marketing give him an unique ability to translate customer requirements into revenue generating products. |
